Challenge

Global outdoor clothing and equipment brand, Rab, needed over 400 swing tags writing for their A/W 2019 products. With a tight deadline of just 2 weeks to leave time for translation and print, they needed a copywriter who could hit the ground running.

Outcome

I worked with the technical and marketing team to write and get approval for each product tag, meeting the deadline (with time to spare!).

What I did as the copywriter:

πŸ“– Worked with complex specs and established tone of voice

Starting with highly technical specifications for each product, I wrote copy that adhered to Rab’s established tone of voice guidance, keeping each within tight character limits.

πŸ§‘β€πŸ’Ό Consulted technical team directly to streamline workflow

If I needed clarification on a particular part of a product spec, I liaised with the technical team directly to quickly get answers to specific questions rather than waiting for feedback rounds. This helped to reduce the number of feedback rounds needed, allowing us to hit the hard deadline.

🌎 Wrote with translation in mind

Knowing that these tags would be translated into multiple languages, I made sure to avoid idiomatic or dialectal language that could lose meaning in the translation process.
